Crabby Cakes

It was a busy day!

We started the day off doing this:

and ended the day with this:

But as we prepared for the morning event and time ticked menacingly close to party time and Mommy needed a shower - bad - I turned into Crabby Mommy. You know the one? Have you been her too? I sure don't mean to be. I tend to wake in the morning resembling a tossled but relatively Happy Mommy. I mean, give me a coffee and look at all the things I can do - lick snowflakes from the sky, shine a flashlight on mossy mold and all! Yet, Crabby Mommy swoops in to ruin the pristine childhood memory-making, cookie-decorating party scene. I left a message for Becky tonite asking if God allows childhood amnesia for those Crabby Mommy moments. How, really, do you balance the necessary with ... the necessary?

Allow amnesia.

Hey, don't diss Crabby Mommy too much--she gives Model Mommy the opportunity to teach children about asking for forgiveness and owning up to challenges and learning that all humans are, well, human. A very human mommy, washed in humbleness and grace, is a powerful childhood learning lab...

Hugs and blessings, my little crustacean.

I think they do have amnesia! They are sooo quick to forgive and hug us and truly behave as though it never happened!

I feel your pain ... I just use those crabby moments to show my kids (and I do tell them) that Mommy is not perfect - we all make mistakes! Hang in there. I pray they don't remember Crabby Mommy as well.

Boy have I been a crabby mommy lately. Not feeling well, not sleeping well and just plain tired. I just keep trying to remind myself to BREATHE and PRAY. I especially pray for childhood amnesia on my "Frizzy" days.

He must allow amnesia - I don't remember my mum being crabby before our parties & I'm sure she would have been just as flustered as I get!

Octamom said it well..it's a teachable moment! I think I said to my kids last week, "Mommy has a secret to share with you...Mommy is NOT perfect! Only Jesus is, so please forgive me." My kids have shown me so much grace...they actually teach me a thing or two every now and then!
